g Guardian First Book Award
The Guardian First Book Award was established in 1999. It is awarded annually to first-time authors writing in English, or translated into English, across all genres. Now in its 16th year, the award is unique in judging debut works of fiction alongside those of non-fiction and is the only literary award that rewards first-time writers in all genres. This is a literary award by The Guardian newspaper. The award was established in 1999, replacing the Guardian Fiction Award or Guardian Fiction Prize that the newspaper had sponsored from 1965. Sadly, the award was discontinued in 2016.
